Recently one of our clients pointed out that there were interested in having a Yelp Application added to their Facebook Fan Page. The problem was that I had never heard or seen one. After some research, still nothing. I was disappointed to not find anything because I really like Yelp.
A Month or so later our client sent me an email which braught me to the site www.socialappshq.com. I became very excited when I found out that a Yelp Facebook Application really does exist. I surfed right onto their website and in the bottom right corner saw the “Our Apps” table where the Yelp Application logo was sitting. I clicked on over to their page and added the yelp application to a few of my clients fan pages.
The first fan page I added the Yelp Facebook application to didn’t work… It gave me an error stating that “Yelp did not return any data for the given phone number”. I went make sure the phone number matched on the Yelp and Facebook page, and it did. I also made sure that it matched like (555) 555-555. I made that change, but it still didn’t work.
After looking at it some more, I noticed that it requires you to create an account at SocialAppsHQ. Once I made an account, there it was “Select Your Plan”. I did not notice the “Pricing” tab when I first went onto their website and the application page didn’t say anything about it being a paid app. After looking that the pricing, the lowest plan was only $0.99 per month BUT it has a maximum of 100 fans. The next and “Most Popular” was $9.99 per month.
So now I have no idea if the application will work or not once I pay their fee. From what it looks like to me, it doesn’t work. But once you make the payment… the phone number thing may not be an issue.
Now, I do like Yelp, and I would like to have that application on my Fan Page, but I really don’t think it is work $10 per month to have. I know I can offer it to my clients if they really want it, but I think they will agree with me on the pricing. Our clients or typically small businesses and entrepreneurs, perhaps larger businesses or higher revenue generating businesses wouldn’t mind this cost.
Either way, way want to get some more info on this app. Have you used the SocialAppsHQ Yelp Facebook Application or any of their others? What do you think about it? Is it worth the investment?
