Build the systems so growth doesn't depend on you

A business that only works when you're there can't really grow — you become the ceiling. The way past it is to get the business out of your head and into systems and people who can run parts of it without you. That's the shift from owning a job to owning a business that grows.

Do this

  1. Write down how the repeatable work gets done, so someone else can do it right (see Your Team → Systems).
  2. Delegate whole outcomes, not just tasks — hand off "keep the schedule full," not "make three calls."
  3. Build a thin layer of leadership as you grow: a lead or manager who owns an area so you're not the only decision-maker.
  4. Track a few simple numbers weekly so you can steer the business by the dashboard, not by being everywhere.

Systems that let you scale

  • Your 5–10 most-repeated tasks written down as simple procedures (Bizer Procedures)
  • At least one whole area handed off to someone who owns the outcome
  • A lead or manager for each part of the business as it grows
  • A short weekly number check (sales, jobs, cash) you steer by
  • The business can run a full week without you touching every part
