Online Store: sell from your Square catalog

A page your customers open with a link or a QR code to buy what's in your Square catalog, one-time items and subscriptions, paid on Square's checkout into your own Square account.

Online Store is a page where your customers buy from you. It shows what's in your Square catalog, your items and your subscription plans, at the prices you set in Square. Customers pay on Square's own checkout, and the money goes into your Square account. Bizer takes no cut.

Set it up

  1. Connect Square on the Connections screen.
  2. Get Online Store from the App Market.
  3. Share it from My Apps: you get its address on bizer.app and a **QR

code** to print.

Taking orders needs Bizer Plus. If your plan lapses, the page still shows what you sell, and checkout says the store isn't taking online orders right now.

What customers see

  • Subscribe: each of your subscription plans, with its price and how often

it bills.

  • Shop: your one-time items. They add what they want to a cart and check

out.

  • A subscription and a cart are separate checkouts: Square sells one plan

at a time.

Buying needs no account. Photos from your Square catalog don't show on the page yet.

Your Square account must be able to take card payments. If you haven't finished setting up payments in Square (verifying the business and linking a bank account), the page still shows what you sell but takes no orders, and says so. Your own copy of the app tells you what to finish.

Subscriptions in Square

Your plans live in Square: create them in your Square Dashboard under subscriptions. Each plan has one or more ways to subscribe, each with its own price and how often it bills. Square bills weekly, every two weeks, monthly and more, but not every four weeks: use monthly or every two weeks.

A subscription has no separate delivery charge on each renewal, so put delivery in the price: for example, "Family box, delivered".

Memberships and member prices

A membership is a subscription that unlocks a lower price on another plan, like a co-op membership that comes with free delivery.

  1. Make the membership a plan in Square.
  2. For each plan members get a better price on, make two ways to subscribe in

Square: the standard price (with delivery in it) and the member price.

  1. Ask Miles to set up the membership and member pricing in your store.

When a signed-in customer with an active membership subscribes, Square's checkout opens at the member price. Everyone else gets the standard price. The customer can't pick the member price for themselves: Bizer checks the membership with Square, by the email they signed in with.

Subscribers manage their own

On My subscriptions, a subscriber signs in with the email they subscribed with and sees each of their subscriptions: its price, its next charge, and what they can do with it right now.

  • Skip next: the next charge doesn't happen, and billing picks up the cycle

after.

  • Pause and Resume: no charges while paused.
  • Change plan: moves them to another of your plans from their next charge,

at Square's price. A member gets the member price; nobody else can.

  • Cancel: it ends after what they've already paid for.

Before any change, the page says exactly what will happen and on what date, and asks them to confirm. These changes can't be undone from the page, so:

  • nothing can be changed before the first charge has gone through;
  • once a change is set, nothing else can be changed until it happens. The

subscriber is asked to contact you instead, and you can sort it out in Square.

You can also ask Miles to do any of these for a customer. He shows you a card to approve first.

Letting subscribers in

Your app can let a new subscriber in on its own: ask Miles for "when someone subscribes, save them and let them in". They then see the app's screens for subscribers, signed in with the email they subscribed with. Someone without a Bizer account yet gets in the first time they sign in with that email.

When something happens in your store

About every 15 minutes Bizer looks at your store and notices paid orders, new subscriptions, paused, changed or cancelled ones, and failed payments. Ask Miles to act on them, for example "when a subscription is paid, add a box to this week's packing list". Because Bizer looks every 15 minutes, these can arrive up to 15 minutes after they happen.

Make it yours

Ask Miles to change the page, the wording or the order of things, or to add a membership. Your customers' subscriptions, refunds and receipts stay in Square.
