Validation Canvas: how it works

Test a business idea card by card with Miles beside you, and see what the evidence says before you spend on it.

The Validation Canvas is its own app: Miles on one side and the nine cards of your idea on the other. Open it from your apps, or tap Work it on my canvas at the end of an Idea Score report. The Idea Score says how the market looks. The canvas is where you find out whether it's true for you.

The nine cards

You work them in this order:

Solution (last, on purpose)

Riskiest assumption

If you opened it from an Idea Score, the cards start with that report's research, each finding with its link.

What the marks mean

Each card shows untested, supported, contradicted or mixed. Bizer works that out from the evidence on the card every time you look, so neither you nor Miles can just mark a card supported.

A web finding counts only with its link.
A conversation with a real customer counts most, then your own numbers, then a

web page.

Web evidence and your own are kept in two lists: From the web and **Your

own**.

There's no overall score on the canvas. The Idea Score is the one grade.

Working with Miles

Talk it through in the chat beside the cards. Miles asks the hard questions one at a time, problem first, and writes what you learn onto the cards.

Your words win. Once you've written a card, a change from Miles waits as a

suggestion. Tap Use this or Keep mine.

Problem before solution. Miles won't write the solution card while the

problem card is still untested.

Log your conversations

Talking to people who have the problem is the best evidence there is. Log each one: who, when, what they do about it today and what it costs them, what they said in their own words, and whether it backs the problem. The canvas counts toward five conversations.

Make the call

When you're ready, choose go, narrow or rethink. The call is yours, never Miles's, and you can make it whenever you like. The canvas tells you what's still missing but never stops you.

On a go, the canvas offers to write your business plan from the cards. You pick which sections to write.

On your phone

The chat comes first. Tap the Canvas pill at the top to see the cards. When a card changes while you're chatting, a note says so. Tap it to jump to that card.

Your advisor

If you shared your Idea Score with an advisor when you set up Bizer, they can open your workspace and see your canvas too. You can remove them from your team at any time.

What it costs

The canvas, Miles's work on it, and your first Idea Score are free. Research it again from the cards, What do reviewers complain about? and writing the business plan on a go are part of Bizer Plus.
