Set up a referral method (referral offer, link, or logged referrals)
A referral is the cheapest, highest-trust customer you'll ever get. Encouraging referrals on purpose — not just hoping for them — turns happy customers into a steady source of new business.
Do this
- Ask for referrals right after you deliver great work.
- Make it easy: tell them exactly who you're looking for.
- Consider a simple thank-you or reward for referrals that land.
- Track where referrals come from and thank those people.
The Referral Ask
Right after a happy customer thanks you, say:
"That means a lot. I grow mostly by word of mouth — if you know anyone else who needs [what you do], I'd really appreciate the introduction."
Make it specific: "anyone with a fleet of trucks" beats "anyone."
Optional: offer a small thank-you (discount, gift card) for referrals that turn into jobs — and always tell the referrer when it worked out.
