Before you spend a dollar on ads
Most owners waste their first ad money because they run ads before they're ready — no clear target, no clear message, no way to tell if it worked. Ads amplify what you've already got; if the target and message are fuzzy, you're just paying to reach the wrong people faster. Get those right first, then test small and track everything.
Do this
- Don't run ads until you know your customer and your one-liner — ads can't fix a fuzzy message.
- Start tiny: a small budget, one clear audience, one clear offer. Treat it as a test, not a leap.
- Track it — a dedicated number, a promo code, or just asking "how'd you hear about us?" — so you know if it paid.
- Keep what pays for itself; kill what doesn't. Never let an ad run on hope.
5 questions before you boost a post
If you can't answer all five, you're not ready to spend — you're ready to guess:
1. WHO exactly will see this? (the specific customer from lesson 2) 2. WHAT'S the offer? (one clear reason to call NOW) 3. WHERE do they land? (a number to call, a form, a DM — not a dead end) 4. HOW will I know it worked? (a code, a dedicated number, "how'd you hear about us?") 5. WHAT does "worked" mean? (e.g. "one paying job pays for the ad")
Start with $5-10/day for a week, not $500 at once. An ad is a test you can read — not a lottery ticket. Read it, then spend more on what works.
