Turn one happy customer into the next five
Your happiest customer is your cheapest lead. The moment you've done great work is the moment they most want to help you back — but only if you ask, and almost no one does. A simple referral habit turns a single job into a steady line of new customers who already trust you before you say a word.
Do this
- Right after you've delivered and they're pleased, ask for one referral — not a crowd, one specific person.
- Make it easy: hand them something to pass along, or offer to text them a link they can forward.
- Ask for the review while you're there — it's the referral that works while you sleep.
- Log the referral as a new lead in your Pipeline so it gets the same follow-up as any other deal.
The referral ask that doesn't feel awkward
Timing beats wording. Ask when they're happiest — job just done, problem just solved:
"Glad that's sorted. Quick favor — who's one person you know who could use this? I'll take great care of them too."
Then make it effortless: • "Want me to text you a link you can just forward?" • "Here are a couple cards — one for you, one to pass on." • "Mind leaving a quick review while it's fresh? Two taps, huge help."
One good referral a job, and your pipeline never runs dry.
