The Start Phase: Become a Real Business

Chapter 1 of Start to Exit: The Bizer Blueprint.

Start is where a hustle becomes a business. You are not doing anything advanced here. You are putting in the universal fundamentals every business shares, whatever the trade. Finish Start across all four pillars and your Bizer Score reaches 200, the fixed credential that says you are real, legitimate, and lender ready. Two businesses at 200 are equally fundable no matter their size.

Here is what Start looks like in each pillar.

Money: Financial Visibility

The goal of Start-Money is simple: reliably know what is coming in and going out. Open a business bank account, keep personal and business money apart, and track every dollar. Add a light monthly review so you know your profit, and set your prices on purpose instead of by gut. If pricing is the piece you are unsure of, the Price a Job and Break-Even skills do the math with you.

Customers: Customer Discovery

You are still learning who buys and why. Write down who your ideal customer is, say what you do in one plain sentence, and know the alternatives people weigh against you. Get a basic online presence up, start one marketing channel, and begin saving customer contact details. A little local market research here saves you from marketing to the wrong person for a year.

Work: Basic Operations

The work still lives in your head, and that is the thing to fix. Write down the steps of a typical job, the tools and supplies it needs, how long it really takes, and what good looks like. You are not building a factory. You are getting the job out of your memory and onto paper so it can be repeated.

Management: Owner Direction

At Start you are the one steering, so steer on purpose. Write a short vision, name your core offering, get your tasks out of your head and into one list, and set one or two goals with a number and a date. The Goal Setting skill turns a vague hope into a target you can actually hit.

What graduating Start feels like

When all four quadrants are done, your score crosses 200 and the business stops feeling like a side hustle. You know your numbers, you know your customer, you can describe your work, and you know where you are headed. Remember the gate: Start caps your score at 200 until every pillar finishes it, so resist chasing advanced wins in your strongest pillar before the basics are in across the board.

Next chapter: Build: make it consistent.
