Chat: how it works
Talk with your team, other owners, customers and connected businesses in one inbox, and schedule a meeting from any team or contact chat. Chat is always free.
Chat is its own app. Open it from the Chat tab, or go to bizer.app/chat. Every conversation you have in Bizer lands in one inbox, newest first.
- On a computer, your inbox sits on the left and the conversation opens
beside it.
- On a phone, you see the list first. Tap a conversation to open it, and
go back to see the list again.
Chat is always free
Every conversation opens on every plan, on every device: direct messages, groups, customer messages, texts, Facebook messages and linked businesses. Two things need the $28 plan: bringing texts or Facebook messages into Bizer in the first place, and letting your agent answer texts on his own.
The kinds of conversation
Direct messages
One on one with someone else on Bizer. Tap +, then Message or invite a contact, and enter their email. If they're on Bizer, the chat opens right away. If not, we send them an invite. You see when they're typing and when they've read your message. Miles doesn't answer in a direct message.
Groups
Tap +, then New group. A group is either your team or your contacts, never both:
- A team group is for your teammates. You choose whether Miles is in it.
- A contact group is for people you already chat with, from any business.
Each business in the room can add its own agent, and only that business's team can add or remove it.
Customer messages
When someone messages your business from your Bizer Profile, the conversation shows up here. Miles answers them from what you've published, with no access to the rest of your account. The moment you or a teammate replies, he steps back and the conversation is yours.
Texts
Customer texts to your business's own Twilio number. Turn it on in Settings → Customer texting, after you connect Twilio. Each text you send shows Sending…, Sent, Delivered or Not delivered. A customer who replies STOP can't be texted again until they reply START. Twilio bills the texts to you.
You can also switch on Let my agent reply automatically. Then Miles answers customer texts himself, from your business knowledge, and says he's an AI in his first reply. Leave it off to answer every text yourself.
Facebook messages
Messages to your Facebook Page. Turn it on in Settings → Facebook messages, after you connect your Page. You answer them yourself. Facebook only lets a Page reply within 24 hours of the customer's last message, so the reply box closes after that until they write again.
Linked businesses
When a customer or vendor is also on Bizer, open their page under Organizations and tap Invite to connect. Once they accept, you share one thread. If either side disconnects, the thread stays readable but closes to new messages.
How Miles takes part
Miles is in your inbox, but he only speaks where it fits:
- Team group: if he's in the group, he answers when someone mentions him by
name, like "@Miles". Anything he would change or send comes back as a card to approve first.
- Contact group: each business's agent answers only when mentioned by name.
- Linked business: quiet unless someone mentions him. Whoever mentions him
gets their own agent, and he answers from public information only.
- Customer messages: he answers until someone from your team replies.
- Texts: only if you turned on automatic replies.
- Direct messages and Facebook messages: never.
Your own threads with Miles sit in the same list. See Threads and specialist hats.
Schedule a meeting
In a direct message or a group, tap + in the message box, then Schedule a meeting. Everyone in the chat is invited.
- Say what it's about, then pick the date, time and length.
- Add a meeting link if there is one. If your Google account is the one
connected to your business, you can tick Add a Google Meet link instead. The meeting then also goes on your Google Calendar, and Google emails your teammates and guests.
- Add guests by email for people outside the chat, and a note if you like.
- Tap Schedule.
A meeting card appears in the chat. Everyone answers Going, Maybe or Can't, taps Join when it's time, or Add to calendar to save it. Whoever set it up can Move it or Cancel meeting. Everyone on Bizer who hasn't said no gets a reminder a day before and 15 minutes before. Meetings are free, and they also show on your Schedule.
