Track conversion from lead to customer

Your conversion rate — how many leads become customers — tells you whether your problem is getting leads or closing them. Tracking it turns 'business is slow' into a fixable number.

Do this

  1. Count leads in and customers won over the same period.
  2. Divide customers by leads to get your conversion rate.
  3. Track it monthly and watch the trend.
  4. If it's low, fix your follow-up and quotes; if leads are low, fix marketing.

Conversion Rate Math

Conversion Rate = Customers Won ÷ Total Leads × 100

Example: Leads this month: 40 Became customers: 12 Conversion: 12 ÷ 40 = 30%

What it tells you: • Low conversion (lots of leads, few sales) → fix follow-up & pricing • High conversion but few sales → you need more leads (marketing)

Track it monthly. It's the single best diagnostic for "why is it slow?"
