Maintain a financial KPI dashboard (revenue, margin, and cash on hand, monthly)
At the Grow stage, gut feel isn't enough — you steer by numbers. Tracking a few key financial metrics on a dashboard tells you, at a glance, whether the business is healthy and where to push.
Do this
- Pick 4-6 metrics that matter (revenue, gross margin, net profit, cash on hand).
- Pull them into one simple dashboard you check monthly.
- Compare each to last month and to your target.
- Act on the one metric that's furthest off target.
Financial Dashboard Checklist
- Revenue (and growth vs. last month)
- Gross profit margin %
- Net profit
- Cash on hand / runway
- Outstanding invoices (money owed to you)
- Review the whole set on the same day each month
