The Money Pillar: From Visibility to Transferability
A pillar chapter of Start to Exit: The Bizer Blueprint.
The phase chapters read the board across all four pillars at once. This one reads a single column top to bottom: Money, from Start to Exit. Money is the survival pillar, and the question it answers is blunt. Do you know, control, and grow your numbers? Everything else is optional if the money runs out, so in the Blueprint's tiebreaks Money goes first.
Each pillar earns its own 100 to 500 score, gated the same way the headline is, so you can see exactly how far up this column you have climbed.
Start: Financial Visibility
You reliably know what is coming in and going out. A separate business bank account, every dollar tracked, a light monthly review, and prices set on purpose. This is the foundation the other three zones stand on, and it is where the Price a Job and Break-Even skills do the math with you.
Build: Financial Control
The numbers exist, so you bring them under control. Real accounting software, a monthly profit and loss statement, reconciled accounts, a basic budget, and a clear read on your margins and cash flow. Quick Numbers answers what you made this month without opening the books, and staying on top of quarterly taxes stops a surprise bill from wrecking your cash.
Grow: Financial Strategy
Clean books start looking forward. A dashboard of a few key metrics, tracked growth rate and margins, a forecast, and a 12-month cash-flow view so you can fund growth without a crunch. This is where money stops being a scoreboard and becomes a steering wheel.
Exit: Financial Transferability
The books become trustworthy to a stranger. Clean three-statement financials, three or more years of records, a due-diligence set, and a real valuation. The test: could a buyer's accountant open your numbers and believe them without you in the room?
The climb
Visibility, then Control, then Strategy, then Transferability. You cannot skip a rung, and the practices have to stay fresh to hold their points. When Money reaches the top, your business is not just profitable. It is provably, transferably profitable. Read the same climb in the other pillars: Customers, Work, and Management.
