Work is delivery. The question this pillar answers is whether the job actually gets done, reliably, without living in your head. It is the pillar owners most often carry entirely in memory, which is exactly why it is the hardest to hand off and the most valuable to write down.
Start: Basic Operations
Get the work out of your head and onto paper. Write the steps of a typical job, the tools and supplies it needs, how long it really takes, and what good looks like. Knowing your true cost and time per job is also what makes pricing honest.
Build: Operational Consistency
Make it repeat. Write the process for your most common jobs, track each job's progress in one place, and confirm quality against a checklist every time. Mapping a workflow is easier when you can sketch it as a simple diagram the whole team can follow.
Grow: Operational Efficiency
Sharpen the machine. Detailed procedures, training material, a quality-control step, and operational metrics so you can measure the efficiency you gain. When a problem recurs, a root-cause analysis that ends in a fixed process, not a heroic save, is the sign this zone is working.
Exit: Scalable Operations
Prove the work happens without you. A complete library of procedures, and jobs delivered by staff while you are not there. Operations that only run when the owner is present are the single biggest thing that sinks a business valuation.
