Register to sell to the government (SAM.gov)

Before the government can buy from you or even see you, you have to register in SAM.gov — the System for Award Management. It's the official front door, and it's completely free. Plenty of shady 'services' will offer to do it for a fee; you never need them. Getting registered is the one hard requirement that unlocks every federal opportunity.

Do this

1. Register your business at SAM.gov — it's free. You'll get a UEI (Unique Entity ID) that identifies your business.
2. Have your basics ready: legal business name, address, EIN, and your bank info for payment.
3. Pick your NAICS codes — the numbers that say what your business does, so buyers can find you.
4. Never pay a third party to 'register you' — Bizer's Capital tool (/capital) walks you through SAM registration for free.

SAM.gov registration checklist

• Legal business name + physical address (must match your other records)
• EIN from the IRS and your business bank account details
• Your NAICS code(s) — what your business does (naics.census.gov to look up)
• Register free at SAM.gov → you receive a UEI (Unique Entity ID)
• Ignore anyone charging a fee to register — it's always free
