Document an ideal-customer profile
When you try to sell to everyone, you connect with no one. Defining your ideal customer — who they are and why they buy — makes your marketing cheaper and your sales easier because you're talking to the right person.
Do this
- Think about your best 3-5 customers: what do they have in common?
- Write down their basics: who they are, where they are, and the problem you solve for them.
- Note why they chose you over doing nothing or going elsewhere.
- Use that description to guide where you market and what you say.
Ideal Customer One-Pager
Fill this in (keep it to a few lines):
WHO they are: (age/role/type of business, location) THE PROBLEM you solve for them: WHY they buy from you (not a competitor, not nothing): WHERE they spend time (so you know where to market):
Tip: base this on your real best customers, not who you wish you had.
