Identify competitors and the alternatives customers use

Your customers always have alternatives — a competitor, a DIY option, or doing nothing. Knowing what you're up against tells you how to stand out and what to say when someone is comparing.

Do this

  1. List your top 3 competitors and what they charge.
  2. Note the 'do nothing' and DIY options customers consider.
  3. For each, write one reason a customer would pick you instead.
  4. Use those reasons in your pitch and on your website.

Competitor Scan Checklist

  • List 3 direct competitors and their rough prices
  • Note the DIY / 'do nothing' alternative
  • Write one thing you do better than each
  • Find one gap none of them fill
  • Work your standout reason into your pitch
