Reengage Previous Customers

Repeat customers · Customer retention · About an hour of your time · 2 weeks · By Bizer

A past customer already knows and trusts you. Bringing ten of them back is usually easier than finding ten new ones. This campaign picks who to contact and drafts what to say.

The objective

Bring previous customers back with a relevant, permitted message and a clear reason to return.

When this campaign fits

You have a list of past customers you are allowed to contact, and a relevant reason to reach out.

What you will need

  • Your customer list, from your CRM, point of sale or a spreadsheet
  • Which customers agreed to hear from you
  • A reason to come back: a seasonal service, a check-up, a new offer

What Bizer prepares

  • A suggested audience: who to contact and why
  • An email and a text message, with the reason to return and a call to action
  • A short follow-up for people who do not reply

What you do

  • Check permissions
  • Send through your approved channel

What you get

A targeted reengagement message, ready to send or sent.

Step by step

  1. Step 1: Bizer suggests which past customers to contact.
  2. Step 2: Bizer drafts the email or text, with the reason to return.
  3. Step 3: You check that each person agreed to hear from you.
  4. Step 4: You send the message.
  5. Step 5: One follow-up a week later to anyone who did not reply.

How you will know it worked

Work completed

  • Messages sent: To customers who agreed to hear from you

Campaign response

  • Replies and bookings: Within two weeks

Business outcome

  • Returning customers and repeat sales: Within 30 days

A finished campaign is not a guaranteed result. Each measure is tracked on its own.

What it needs connected

  • Customer list (from your CRM or point of sale)
  • Email or text (Google or Microsoft email works)

Permission first

Only contact people who agreed to hear from you, or who you have an existing customer relationship with where the law allows it. Rules for marketing email and text differ; text messages in particular usually need clear consent. When in doubt, leave someone off the list. Always include a simple way to opt out.

Who to contact

Good first audiences:

  • Lapsed regulars: people who used to come often and stopped.
  • Seasonal customers: whoever bought this service at this time last year.
  • One-time customers: people who tried you once and never came back.

Starting small, ten to fifty people, lets you write something personal and see what works before you message everyone.

A reason to return

"We miss you" is not a reason. Give a real one: it is time for the yearly service, the new menu is out, there is an opening next week. An offer can help, but a timely reminder often works on its own.

Keep it personal

Use their first name and mention what they bought before if you know it. Short beats long. One clear call to action: book, reply, or stop by.

Count what came back

Note how many you contacted, how many replied, and how many bought again within a month. That number tells you whether to run it again next season.
